What’s the story behind your derby name?
I’ve always loved everything witchy and spooky. Salem is also an old nickname, and I added Witch Slap to be punny. I’ve also been known to get slappy. My derby moves will put a spell on you

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at roller derby practice?
I love to hang out with my family and play music.

When and why did you start roller derby?
I started with South Side in 2020 wanting to find a part of myself I felt like I sort of lost during the pandemic. I’ve definitely found that and more.

What advice do you have for new skaters or those considering joining?
Don’t say you’ll never be able to do this/that. You will surprise yourself so much along the way if you are consistent. When I first started, I could not even stand on skates. Now I captain teams

Joining a community like this could become so important for your physical AND mental health. Everybody evolves at their own pace. It might seem scary at first, but that just means you are challenging yourself, which is amazing and will take you so far!
