What is the backstory on your Derby Name?

It’s a play on my real name.  I wanted something that I would still answer to and Tater (my partner in this SSRD madness) called me Mojo Jo Jo one day – the Mojo part stuck.  

When did you start roller derby?

I started roller derby in 2006!

Why did you start derby?

I originally went to boot camp because I was looking for a replacement for the treadmill, and I fell in love with roller derby

Has your why changed over the years?

Not really.  I still feel happy every time I step into practice or show up for game day.  I love our league and my team mates.  I have met so many awesome people and made so many friends over the years.  And derby is still a way better option for cardio than the treadmill!!

Things you wish you knew when you 1st started derby that you know now.

Learn all the things from everyone, don’t be afraid to try new things, don’t take any of it personally ever, and always have fun while you are playing.
