What is the backstory on your Derby Name?

For some reason people feel like I look like Drew Burymore. I had a lot of names picked out. It came down to two Blu Bury-more or Prank Sinatra. Decided Blu would be a better fit and here we are.

February 2019

Why did you start derby?

 I was going through a rough time in my life and making bad choices and got in trouble. I was stuck in a place where I didn’t know how to improve myself. My best friend stumbled upon South side Roller Derby we both joined and that was the start of my new journey. The best thing i could of done for myself.

Has your why changed over the years?

Not too much, I’m a firm believer on always bettering yourself, even if you feel accomplished. Also having some amazing people beside you makes you never want to leave.

3 Things you would like new skaters to know.

1. Don’t feel intimidated of the process. It’s not going to happen naturally. Practice as much as on your skates off your skates. It’ll help you so much.

2. Everyone is still learning. It doesn’t matter if your a veteran, everyone has something they need to improve so don’t feel upset if you can’t get all the things when you’ve been at it a while.

3. On your first day it’s ok to be scared. It’s something new. Even your first week, but after that you start you meet so many amazing people that encourage you to be better every time you step in the rink. Honestly that’s one of the best parts of derby.

My favorite color is orange but if you look in my closet you’ll see nothing but black. My room is covered with Halloween stuff. I collect bugs dead/ alive. I’m a avid spice girls enthusiast with a lot of metal. I also love creating videos and taking pictures of people.
